As A Martial Artist, Your Friends Will Expect You To Defend Them If You, Or They, Ever Get Into A Jam: Chad Lyman’s Techniques Will Transform You From A Competition BJJ-Trained Athlete To A Wrecking Machine In The Street.
Here’s the scene…
You are out at a bar with your friends watching sports and a group of 3 “local tough guys” comes over and they are clearly looking to start trouble. These guys are bad news. You know the type: big, drunk, obnoxious and loud.
One of them asks your friend (who is a nice guy but not a fighter) – what the F*&k he is looking at? When your buddy tries to diffuse the situation, they become even more hostile and “the leader” pours a drink on him.
This isn’t rational behavior – they weren’t provoked; this is just what drunk jackasses do.
Now, since you’re the guy who takes BJJ lessons and goes to class your friends are suddenly looking to you to stand up to these yahoos to save face.
But… the reality is, you haven’t been training to fight.
Yes, you train to win BJJ competitions, or train to win your rolls (grappling) in class; but you don’t train to actually fight. For goodness sake, you start on the knees most of the time and slap hands first and there isn’t any striking. This situation with these unskilled (but BIG and angry) drunks is nothing like that…
What the hell do you do? At this point, you become aware of one painful truth:
Competition BJJ By Itself Is Mostly Useless In the Street
If all you do is pull guard in class and are never instructed in more realistic scenarios, you are very likely to be embarrassed hard by an unskilled thug in the street. In class, you just aren’t used to taking punches or dealing with multiple attackers and weapons. If you are suddenly faced with these new and intimidating variables, you are no more likely to come out of it smiling than someone who hasn’t trained a day of BJJ in their life.
The street is a much different arena than the controlled and safe environment of the training mat. It can be a nasty place – even a deadly one – where people play for keeps. They can stab, attack in groups, sucker punch – it can be a heinous situation. You need the right training to succeed. You need to know the secrets to adapting your ground game to the street.
Don’t Worry: Your Training Isn’t Entirely Useless
Don’t get me wrong: your past training, while ineffective if not correctly adapted, can also be a tremendous leg up – if… you know the proper ways to transition those skills to real life scenarios. Noted BJJ Coach John Danaher has said that winning street fights, if you’ve been trained, is “embarrassingly easy”.
Swat Team Member, BJJ Black Belt and Instructor at Randy Couture’s Gym, Chad Lyman agrees.
And when you know Chad’s transitions, it is easy to win street fights. The bar guys of the world looking for trouble from you won’t stand a chance.
The Street Isn’t Usually A “Fair” 1-On-1 Fight
When there is an altercation in the street, it typically starts on the attacker’s terms. Maybe it’s a sucker punch, maybe it’s a multiple-attacker scenario – you need to be prepared for anything and everything. Once you know how to neutralize these situations, you’ll have a much better chance of getting out of trouble or into a one-on-one situation where you know how to handle your business.
Weapons provide a different and very challenging variable. Would you know what to do if attacked? What if your attacker has a knife or a club? You need to know: it could mean the difference between life and death.
What about multiple attackers? Surprise, surprise, there is no magic bullet for that one with your bare hands but did you know there are a few makeshift weapons you can use that will shift the odds to your favor and make sure you come out ahead.
Everything Chad does revolves around angles. He likes to create them and capitalize on them. Just like competition BJJ – you want to be in a position where you can attack, and your opponent can’t attack you.
Through Chad’s dynamic training techniques, you’ll learn simple concepts to always keep you safe and to keep you in a position to attack.

What Techniques Are Legal To Use & What Aren’t
The Street is a confusing place and it can be tough to know what techniques you can use and which ones you can’t. What makeshift weapons you can use and which ones you can’t. What is the correct amount of force to use and how to stay out of jail if you respond.
As a law enforcement officer, Chad is an expert in these areas. He will tell you in no-nonsense terms, what you can do and what you can’t. You will understand very clearly what to do legally, if attacked.
Swat Team Member, BJJ Black Belt and Instructor at Randy Couture’s Gym, Chad Lyman agrees.
And when you know Chad’s transitions, it is easy to win street fights. The bar guys of the world looking for trouble from you won’t stand a chance.
The techniques here could mean the difference between Humiliation and being a hero or even more importantly, life and death.

What is everyone saying about Chad Lyman’s Street Fighting Course?
VERY good curriculum that exceeded greatly all my expectations. I do ALOT of outside training, and the value of this class was amazing. I think people of ANY skill level would GREATLY benefit from this curriculum. The paradigm shift to focusing on principles is eye opening and blew me away.
MIKE G., Police Officer, BJJ Brown Belt, MMA Fighter
C4C coursework far exceeded any defensive tactics training I have ever received. This training has set me on the path to be a student of combatives. This class and it’s instructors were inspiring and C4C should be annual required training for instructors at our police department.
MIKE E., Former Military, Current Police Officer
C4C has the best combatives courses and certifications in the U.S. hands down. C4C curriculum is formed from years of training experience, years of coaching, and years of tactical experience in the street. C4C curriculum is based on real life street experiences and is designed to allow users to dominate street encounters. C4C is BJJ/MMA for the street.
JAY W., SWAT Officer, BJJ Black Belt, MMA Fighter
C4C course work is exceptional, and in my experience is the best DT class ever. C4C has far exceeded my expectations, and is a principle based versus a technique based system. Chad has developed C4C into a complete system that can be used by anyone to help them dominate dangerous encounters in the street.
TRAVIS S., SWAT Officer, Former Military, SWAT Officer & Supervisor, BJJ Black Belt
C4C was a big reality check! Chad is very knowledgable and explained material clearly and completely. My expectations were exceeded, and C4C has better prepared me for the realities of the street.
DENISE A., Police Officer
C4C class was excellent! My expectations were exceeded, and the materials in this course were FAR beyond a standard or “traditional” defensive tactics course. The best part of this course was the principles and concepts reinforced all the skills and techniques taught, which will lead to better retention under stress.
NATE J., Police Officer
The knowledge and ability of Chad Lyman is far above any instruction I have ever received. C4C has changed to way I will resolve combative encounters in the street. This course is exceptional and should be offered in an even more extend course. My expectations have been surpassed. I have received training in self defense and ground fighting, but this is the most effective course I have ever seen. This training should be required for all people.
ALEX P., Federal Law Enforcement
Chad Lyman has great proficiency and knowledge in resolving combative encounters. Everything presented is backed from actual incidents in the street. My expectations were exceeded. I thought it might be similar to other training I have received from the department and in private. This was better than any other training I have seen based on the hight percentage concepts and principles presented.
MARK B., Federal Agent
Chad and C4C are far superior to other defensive tactics instructors and courses I have been exposed to. C4C is real world street related material. The principle based curriculum is the best I have ever seen. I will continue to train in C4C curriculum.
JOEL M., Federal Agent
Chad Lyman is an expert in the field of winning combative events in the street. He is also a master instructor, and the techniques, skills, and principles in C4C were better than any other training I have ever received.
ERIC J., Amateur, Fighter In Training
